View MoreStrep A infection is a major cause of death and disability globally, and particularly affect vulnerable populations. While many infections resolve without issue, some people develop life-threatening invasive disease. A vaccine against Strep A would be a global game changer.
Developing improved controlled human Strep A infection models will help researchers better understand how Strep A causes infections, how the immune system reacts and how we can prevent Strep A disease with a vaccine. The CHIVAS-M1 study is a human challenge trial that aims to validate a human infection model using the M1 strain.
In this study, participants will be exposed to the M1 strain of Strep A. The study team will follow the course of the infection to learn how the body’s immune system reacts to it. Your involvement in this study could advance our knowledge of Strep A infection and lead to better health outcomes globally.
